            A service of rememberence for Shirley Jacobs, 80, of Rippey was held at 10:30 am Tuesday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson. Burial was in the Rippey Cemetery, Rippey, Iowa. Visitation was after 11:00 am Monday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Memorials are suggested to P.A.W.S of Jefferson, American Cancer Society or the Lions Eye Bank.
            Pastor Steve Ransom of First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction offered words of comfort.  Marilynn Hoskinson was the pianist.  Honorary casket bearers were Lindy Ritzman, Jan Turpin, Velma Renfrow, Ellen Reining and Reve Patton.
            Casket bearers were Doug Jacobs, Darin Jacobs, Denis Ritzman, Justin McCool, Mike Scharingson and Jerry Groves. 
            Shirley Eleanor Jacobs, daughter of Clark Edmund Biggs and Florence Freeman Biggs, was born in Winterset, Iowa on March 18, 1932. She died September 21, 2012 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa at the age of 80 years.
    Shirley grew up in Winterset, Iowa. Her family later moved to Adel, Iowa where she graduated from Adel High School. After graduating, Shirley went to work for Duckett’s Bakery in Adel. On August 6, 1950, Shirley was united in marriage to Paul Jacobs in Adel. They were the parents of three sons: James, Dennis and Greg.
The family later moved to Rippey, where Shirley worked as a custodian at the Rippey United Methodist Church and at several café’s in the area. Most of her time was spent raising their three boys. Shirley loved to spend time with her family. She also enjoyed camping, dancing, playing cards and wintering in Texas. She also had a love for animals, especially cats.
            Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, and sisters Marilyn Ritzman and Elizabeth Wolf. She is survived by her three sons: James Jacobs (Diana Miller) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Dennis “Jake” (Denise) Jacobs of Grand Junction, Iowa, and Greg Jacobs of Rota, Spain; 3 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
