Warren Joe Roberts

Warren Joe Roberts was born on October 2, 1930 at Dawson, IA to Joseph Warren Roberts and Josephine Anna Pauline (Hingeley) Roberts. He graduated from Dawson High School in 1948. He farmed for many years in the Dawson/Rippey area, and was involved in seed production and marketing. He married Patricia Lea Yard who died in 1959. To this union 2 children were born, Debra and Joricia. He married Joyce Kirby on July 7, 1962 at Truro, IA. To this union a son Scott was born.

Joe was a member f the Dawson United Methodist Church and currently a member of the Perry Bible Church. He enjoyed antique car collecting, hunting, fishing, telling stories, and cutting trees in the pasture. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, Warren and Josephine Roberts and his first wife, Patricia.

He is survived by wife, Joyce Roberts, of Rippey; two daughters, Debra and her husband Rod Magerkurth from Geneseo, Ill. and Joricia "Joey" and her husband Don Schneider of Cincinnati, OH a son, Scott and his wife Julie Roberts of Jefferson; grandchildren, Dan, grant and Ben Magerkurth, Lara Schneider and Matthew Roberts; a sister, Mathea Lee of Guthrie Center; a brother, Bill Roberts and his wife, Thelma of Bettendorf and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Warren Joe Roberts, age 76, of Rippey were held Wednesday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m. at Perry Bible Church in Perry. Burial was in the Rippey Cemetery at Rippey.

Contributions will be given to American Diabetes Association and Perry Bible Church and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Warren Joe died on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at Guthrie County Hospital in Guthrie Center.


Ralph Raymond McDowell, son of John and Emma McDowell, was born August 24, 1926 in Miller, Missouri and died on June 16, 2007 at Delmar Gardens Henderson, Nev. at the age of 80 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

Services were held Thursday, June 21, 2007 at Hastings Funeral Home. Interment followed at Woodward Cemetery in Woodward.

Ralph and his family moved to Rippey in 1930. He graduated from Rippey Consolidated School in 1942. In 1944, he joined the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In October of 1954, he was married to his beloved wife Enid Leaming-McDowell. They were blessed with two sons, Dwayne and Tad. Ralph and Enid lived in Des Moines, and they later moved to Bouton and then Perry. He was a journeyman-plumber before he went to the United States Post Office in Des Moines, from which he retired.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Emma McDowell; brothers, Leonard McDowell and J. D. McDowell; and sister-in-law, Juanita Mitchell.

Ralph is survived by: his sons, Dwayne Shull of Adel and Tad McDowell (Donna) of Henderson, Nev.; brother, Leon McDowell (Donna) of Perry; sister, Virginia Wernli (Bernie) of Newton; six grandchildren, Jason McDowell of Maryville, Mo.; Tad McDowell II (Nicole) of Grand Island, Neb.; Laura McDowell of Henderson, Nev.; Dana Sanford (Andy) of Tremonton, Id.; Christina Briggs (Seth) of Malad City, Id.; and Bryan Scott (Jamie) of Kalispell, Mon.; brother-in-law, Dean Mitchell of West Des Moines; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane McDowell of Killeen, Tex. and Janice McDowell of Rippey; 11 great-grandchildren, nieces nephews, other relatives and many friends.
